Root & Bloom: Child Crisis Arizona
Thrive & Rooted partnered with Child Crisis Arizona to bring more life, color and nourishment into the spaces where their children learn and grow. Our work began on the rooftop of their Mesa campus, helping refresh a butterfly garden with native plants and water smart irrigation so pollinators and young people could find a calm, restorative space to land.
Soon after, we continued that partnership by supporting the boys in one of their group homes, building raised vegetable beds they could plant, tend and eventually taste from. Together, we dug into the soil, talked through how to help their vegetables thrive, and showed them how to protect and care for their crops. We provided seeds for their winter garden and guided them as they planted and covered each bed with intention and pride.
These shared moments in the dirt connect wellness, nature and community, and we are grateful to watch both the gardens and the boys who nurture them begin to flourish.
Thrive & Rooted at Juneteenth Mesa Zen Nights
Thrive & Rooted joined Mesa Zen Nights for their Juneteenth celebration to honor freedom, joy and community with education and nourishment for the whole family. At our booth, neighbors and friends stopped by to play What Feeds What, our interactive matching game connecting everyday foods to the parts of the body they support. Kids and adults alike laughed, learned and shared stories about the meals that shaped them.
We gifted sustainable grab bags filled with veggie themed coloring and activity books, plant based treats and affirmation stickers designed to spark curiosity and self love long after the festival lights dimmed. We raffled off one of our Thrive & Rooted shirts, sending a lucky guest home wrapped in mission and pride.
This event also marked the debut of our compassionate storytelling series featuring Better Piggies Rescue, reminding everyone that living well extends beyond our plates and into how we care for animals, each other and the world we share.
Moments like this remind us how deeply food, history and healing intertwine, and we are grateful to stand alongside our community as we learn, grow and celebrate together.

Pollination Grant Partnership
Through the Pollination Grant, Thrive and Rooted has stepped alongside Better Piggies Rescue to uplift their mission with heart, storytelling and community education. We spent time on the ground capturing the spirit of the sanctuary and produced both a full length community video and a short social media version to help more people meet the pigs and hear their stories.
Our work continued beyond the barn. We held an educational booth focused on the intelligence and emotional lives of pigs and premiered our video to families curious about compassionate living. Kids and adults learned that pigs solve puzzles, remember faces and form friendships, and that places like Better Piggies Rescue exist because love and advocacy go hand in hand.
To widen the circle even further, we ran digital ads to bring new supporters, volunteers and adopters to the rescue’s door, using storytelling to make every click feel like a step toward kindness.
This collaboration reminds us that compassion grows stronger when it is shared, and we are honored to help these rescued pigs and the people who care for them shine.

Seed to Sprout: Kids Garden Class
There’s something special about watching a child plant a seed and come back to see it grow. It’s more than gardening. It’s patience, curiosity, and a quiet kind of confidence taking root.
Our kids gardening class at Desert West Community Center creates space for children to get their hands in the soil, learn where food comes from, and experience the joy of growing something of their own. From planting seeds to spotting the first sprout, each moment becomes a lesson in care, connection, and possibility.
In this class, children plant beans and peas in peat pots, learning how these small seeds grow into foods that help fuel their bodies. Along the way, they’re introduced to the full journey from seed to plant to food, seeing how something so simple can become something that nourishes them.
Through hands-on activities, kids explore the basics of gardening while also understanding how plants support our bodies and our environment. It’s learning that feels natural. Nothing forced. Just discovery.
You’ll see that here. Small hands in the dirt. Big smiles. That moment of excitement when something finally breaks through the soil.
This is how it begins. A seed, a little attention, and the understanding that growth takes time.
And sometimes, all it takes is one experience like this to change how a child sees food, nature, and their place in it.
Plant-Based Cooking Class Connects Nutrition and Wellness
We’re honored to be featured in Arizona Foothills Magazine for our Powered by Plants series, a growing reflection of what happens when education, community, and nourishment come together with intention.
In partnership with Loving Hut Vegan Cuisine, our February session brought plant-based cooking out of the kitchen and into a shared space of learning. Hosted at Desert West Community Center, the experience blended practical nutrition education with a live cooking demonstration, showing just how simple, accessible, and impactful plant-forward meals can be.
This feature highlights what we believe at our core: wellness should feel within reach. Through guidance from a registered dietitian and hands-on culinary inspiration, attendees explored how everyday food choices can support energy, prevention, and long-term health, without requiring perfection or complexity.
What began as a small idea rooted in our own journey has grown into something bigger, a space where people feel empowered to reconnect with their food, their health, and each other. From community classes to gardens and workshops, Thrive and Rooted continues to create opportunities for learning that feel grounded, welcoming, and real.
This recognition is more than a feature, it’s a reminder that when we center compassion, accessibility, and education, we plant something lasting.

Supported by Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation
We’re grateful to share that Thrive and Rooted has received support from the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation, a partnership that allows us to continue showing up for our community in meaningful, tangible ways.
This funding helps bring our Powered by Plants series to life, creating space for hands-on learning, shared meals, and conversations around what it means to nourish the body with intention. Through these experiences, we’re able to offer plant-based nutrition education that feels approachable, culturally relevant, and rooted in everyday life.
Because of this support, we can provide fresh ingredients, partner with local chefs and registered dietitians, and ensure our events remain accessible to those who need them most. It allows us to remove barriers and replace them with opportunity. Opportunity to learn, to taste, to grow, and to feel good in your body.
There’s something powerful about a table filled with food that supports your well-being and a room filled with people who are learning together. This grant helps us build more of those moments.
We’re thankful to the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation for investing in communities like ours and believing in a future where wellness is something we grow, together.
